St Chad's welcomed Archbishop Malcolm McMahon on the weekend of 16 & 17th April 2016 when his Grace celebrated both weekend Masses and met many parishioners at a coffee morning after Sunday morning Mass.

The year 1991 was the Bicentenary of the foundation of St Chad's church and the parish marked the occasion in style. We welcomed Archbishop Derek Worlock who concelebrated Mass with Fr Fleming and Fr Billington, parishioners made a pilgrimage to Slate Delph, the school children and staff turned back the clock to Victorian times and the church was decked with flowers. Mr Cecil Cowburn, RIP, wrote a booklet telling the story of St Chad's. It can be read on this website via a link on the Parish History page.
